8 Woods To Burn For Delicious Smells At Home

Wood burners are a great way of ensuring your home smells lovely. Read on & find some of the best woods to burn to create a beautiful homesome scent.

A huge part of creating a lovely home environment is the smell of the house… you simply won’t be able to relax if there’s a bit of a pong somewhere – and wood burners in your Staffordshire home are a great way of ensuring your home smells lovely at certain times of the year. Here are a few good woods to burn that you might not yet have tried.

Look out for the likes of hickory, ash, live oak, cherry, apple, walnut and madrone. Hardwood is denser than softwood and will burn hotter for longer – but do make sure the wood you get has seasoned for over a year. It can be more expensive than softwood such as fir and pine, but since it burns for longer you won’t need to buy as much.

Apple has a deliciously fragrant scent that will keep you coming back for more, while ash is a great choice both for heat and enjoying a steady fire. Birch also smells amazing but this wood burns quickly – and bear in mind that it can leave gum deposits in your chimney if you burn too much unseasoned wood.

Cherry is yet another wood that smells incredible when burned, while pine (a softwood) is a nice one to put in the fire at Christmas time because it’ll smell very festive indeed. And don’t forget about walnut, as this hardwood will burn for a long time and you’ll get limited smoke.
